Henry Loubet

vin_henryOriginally born in Newark, New Jersey, Henry recalls that Boone’s Farm and Mateus were once the finest wines available.  Now as he stands on his land and gazes out at the gorgeous vista, Henry thinks to himself, “you’ve come along way baby!” He feels very fortunate indeed to be living in such an exquisite place with the ability to produce this great wine.

From New Jersey,  Henry went on to become a well-respected leader in the healthcare industry, providing executive leadership at some of the country’s most highly regarded organizations including United Healthcare, Health Net, Foundation Health and DrugEmporium/HealthCentral.  He  currently is Chief Strategy Officer and Senior Vice President for Keenan, the largest privately owned brokerage and benefits consulting firm in California.

For many years Henry Loubet had a vision of living in the Napa Valley and producing the finest Cabernet Sauvignon possible.  To realize this dream, in 1998 Henry bought 20 acres of prime property located in the heart of the Napa wine country near St. Helena  he called “Woodcreek”.  It was then that Henry joined with Art Finkelstein to develop and produce Loubet Cabernet.

Here is a quote from Henry when Community celebrates at 25th wine auction, Saturday, June 4, 2005

Art Finkelstein

tour_harvestingIn 1979, Art Finkelstein and his brother Alan built the very well thought of Whitehall Lane Winery in the Napa Valley of California. After many awards for their fine wines and building the winery to a 30,000 case per year facility, the two brothers decided to pursue other interests. In 1988, Alan retired and Art decided that a smaller winery would be more to his liking. From these beginnings, Judd’s Hill winery was established.

Judd’s Hill is a small family winery that exclusively produces red Bordeaux wines; namely, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Art grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc on his estate vineyard property. Not only does he technically and artistically understand winemaking practices and procedures, but Art is also a first-class, hands on viticulturist. Consequently, Art is closely connected to his source grapes, understands the passionate expression of his fruit and intuitively grasps all winemaking procedures. As Art likes to say, “Find the best possible fruit and bring out all its superlative aspects.”.

As a little aside, Judd’s Hill Merlot is a featured wine at the Sundance Film Festival.

Since Cabernet Sauvignon is Art Finkelstein’s area of expertise, Loubet Cabernet is extremely fortunate to have his winemaking talents, experience and knowledge available to produce the finest wines possible.
